With a peaceful mind and an open heart, we find that we are free to experience our lives on a spiritual level. Believing is seeing! Acceptance of the fact of AUTISM in our lives allows us to focus our attention on peace and serenity, and with that we can change our personal world and more effectively impact the world around us.  Do you want to develop hope and acceptance? Then you start by imaging peace in your mind’s eye. To live our best lives, we are called to live beyond the circumstances that we cannot control. Circumstances are not responsible for how you feel. How you interpret the circumstances is responsible for how you feel.

When we stop fighting against the presence of autism and begin to work with the reality that it is part of our lives, perhaps even seeing it as a gift from a higher-power (whatever that means to you), we reach a new level of influence over our life and experience. From here we are able to focus our attention on our own contribution to the situation and make intentional changes in our thoughts and focus that move us from being part of the problem to part of the solution. What you tell yourself in the quiet places of your own mind is what creates how you feel. So let’s find better feeling thoughts! When we live beyond our circumstances and hold our desired vision in our mind’s eye, we become part of the solution!

One final thought…If you hear a grumbling, angry, bitter or disgusted response in your head to what I am saying, and you think that I don’t know what I am talking about, or that I am not facing the challenges you are, or that you are somehow different than me, then you haven’t been in my house this week. Messy. Painful. Sad. I know this rocky path all too well; I am describing to you the path I have taken myself, because I, too, am the mother of a child with autism, and I choose to use my faculties to create the best possible world both for my loved ones with autism and for myself!

I am wishing many Blessings to you and your family!
